Re-visiting the 1980's

Recently I've been feeling nostalgic. Whilst considering what to see & do on my trip abroad later this year, I've had some movies playing in the background. Then after watching Sixteen Candles and the Breakfast Club I came across my complete series of Scarecrow & Mrs King...since then it's been a case of me being hooked more on the TV rather than working out what to see or/& do on my trip!

Once I started with Scarecrow & Mrs King I got to thinking about the other TV shows I loved when I was younger & more particularly growing up in the fantastic 80's. Unfortunately a lot of my favourites are not available on dvd. So, my friends, I was wondering what some of your favourites were. Some of my favourites, apart from the aforementioned were: The Wonder Years, China Beach, In The Heat of the Night, & Hill Street Blues...

Preparations

There are many preparations going on at the moment in my life. I currently have 12 books that are sitting on a chair waiting to be read. None of them are novels, nor do any relate to my courseworks unit for this semester. They are all, I hope, a way to start narrowing my point of focus for my Honours Thesis. Today's other preparation is no less horrifying...I am having to drink some God awful stuff to clear out my system prior to tomorrow's hospital visit. Let me leave it in those vaguest of terms. All that I can say is that at present I am not comfortable, in fact I am decidedly uncomfortable!

I am quite taken with where my thoughts on my thesis is currently going. If you are interested, or have the time to make a comment I'd be interested to 'hear' your views on this question I'm playing around with. How has the sub-genre of paranormal romance re-invented/reconstructed itself within the Romance Genre?

Apparently there are many ways in which to tackle this. Personally, I'm interested in the power struggle between shapeshifter alphas and how, where & why that struggle presents itself as well as the impact or importance of that based upon its readership.

Honours Year

Well, the Honours year has now officially begun. This morning I went and met up with my 1st semester supervisor. It went quite well, even though I left feeling like I needed to get into warp speed! There is so much to do & so little time to do it in when you consider the final date for submission. 15,000 - 18,000 words sure may seem a lot when the concept is floating through your head, but after you talk about the direction that you think your paper should go in, well, let's just say HELP!!!!

Most of you who know me are aware of the fact that when it comes to academic reading I'm a procrastinator. So, I've come up with a way (hopefully) to overcome this. For every academic book I slug my way through, I can read a fiction book...sounds like a good idea huh? I'll keep you all updated on how THAT works out, lol.

I know it's been a while since I posted on here...it's not because I didn't have anything to write, it's just, well, the truth is I forgot my password...typical huh? Thankfully my Dad has put a program on my laptop that does the job...remembering passwords that is. Therefore, I will ensure that I write at least once a fortnight, if not more so!
